Fashion Revision 2010

Wow! this year has definitely been an interesting year. Fashion 2010 has been full of fun, colour, creativity, elements of the ridiculous, inspiration and new beautiful styles. We are nearly at the end of the year and I will definitely miss it but I look forward to the future more because fashion 2011 I think will go down just as well or even better too.

I was looking at the worst fashion trends of 2010 and some of them I completely do not agree with for example clogs. What is wrong with them!? They are so different and look awesome with leggings or a cute dress and I think them being so huge they make a nice little statement. My favourite were definitely the Chanel clogs. The jumpsuit is also being doubted, but I don’t care though I will not give up my jumpsuit I love it too much.

Here are some trends I loved and couldn’t stand this year.

Couldn’t stands=

Harem pants
They are weirdly shaped and they do not look good on anyone seriously and I honestly think don’t even bother wearing nice shoes with them because the bottom cut would totally cover and hide them.
Metallic leather
I never understood how this got on to the runway.
Cut-off jeans
They just make me think of pirates stranded on some desert island and no one has a clue how to repair ripped, ugly clothing. They actually look like they are shorts that are only half made.
Ripped jeans
This goes alongside cut-off jeans it just makes me really freaked out that people would actually walk around looking like they were just in a huge dog brawl.
Fur Boots
I can’t say I liked many of these shoes. The ones with the shearing inside the boot I understand like Burberry Prorsum boots, but fur on the outside of the boot? it’s fine unless you plan on wearing them outside the house. I mean what was this trend trying to achieve how a sheep dog feels?
The envelope bag
This just annoyed me every time I saw it. What do you actually put in it a letter? It is waste of money in my opinion.

Loves=

Nudes
Light, free clothing that looks great with jewellery and it gives a very natural look I think, very clean and simple and it is quite enchanting.
Capes
Yeah they were pretty cool I loved the camel coloured capes from Chloe the most. What I love the most about them is that you don’t have to wear crazy accessories or overdress. You can just wear simple blacks underneath and the cape is all the drama you need.
Circular Glasses
Cutely shaped and not a huge wind shield covering half your face is what is the best about this reinvention.
Small Shoulder Bags
Down side is they don’t hold much but they are great for parties, exhibitions and other less time consuming events when you don’t want to carry a huge bag that might ruin your outfit.
Balenciaga 70’s retro shoes
Was obsessed with them then and still obsessed with them now. So bright and creative, I love the random aspect of the shoes and the architecture.

I hope never to see those negative ones again, but I am happy to know that camel tones in coats and capes are on the trend forecast for 2011 says fashionising.com. There are some things that need to go but some I hope will never leave from 2010. Its sad though because people love these things so much and when the next big thing comes out you just move on with it. But the world never stops moving and its natural to move with it I guess, anyway if we didn’t we wouldn’t get to be a part of those things we fall in and out of love with.

Love, love, love this jacket by Evil Twin an emerging Australian fashion brand. You can actually change the sequin colour to silver by brushing it to an angle.

Frockshop

Brought to life in may 2006, Frockshop.com is Australia’s leading online fashion boutique. The shop provides us with some of the leading Australian fashion designers and international designers, such as; Zimmerman, camilla and marc, Anna and Boy. I went there the other day just to browse really then decided I just had to get some pictures of clothes I want to own.

I saw this dress and just had to put this up, I am sort of obsessed with sequins in shoes and dresses. Carrie (one of my beloved fashion icons) from sex and the city, wears Manolo Blahnik sparkle shoes in the opening scene of the first movie and ever since then I have been in love with sparkle. The shoes just glamour's up the dress but not too much and it makes an outfit that doesn’t even need accessorising.

How hot are these shoes!! And they are Italian, I love Italian shoes, when I see made in Italy, I get so excited. I just wish I could afford them.

FSshop-9 I love the decoration of the store, it is so pretty, it looks like the perfect picture describing our current weather which is spring going into summer, the light and colour coordination is perfect.

When you go around the corner down the fashion forward corridor, there is glamorous evening wear on the side shelves and through the middle and array of swimsuits, mostly of the designers camilla and marc and Zimmerman.

Burnett lane Fashion showcase

Brisbane council has opened their fashion heart and held a Fashion Show in Burnett lane. Showing 16 excellent Brisbane fashion designers and some of QUT’s fashion students. The theme of the show, I would say was creative and colourful. With flowing dresses, casual clothing, evening wear and swimwear. Many of the designers went for summer dresses with flowing, wide brimmed skirts, which seems to have kicked slim dresses out of the picture at the moment. Leopard print which was featured on a swimsuit and a dress giving a sexy, tribal look. Bangles and necklaces with your swimwear, it gives the party look and it’s not only for celebrities and models. Even frills are looking hot at the moment making a dress look rich and worthy of ones praise. So much time would have been put into the clothing, this makes it more appreciable to wear. It’s not annoying either the fabrics are usually soft a light. It won’t make you look like a stuffed bird.
After long consideration of my most favourite designer, it was hard but George Wu’s dresses were so mouth-watering I am now craving them all! They are so beautiful and glamorous with a little extra something that stands out. George Wu is a Brisbane based designer focussing on mostly couture and day wear.

The couture was really quite subtle, but pretty. Dresses weren’t oversized and almost hitting people in the face on the sides of the catwalk. They looked just right for a fancy party, not too simple, not too extravagant.
What is too crazy to wear though?

Lady Gaga has struck the world with her shocking fashion. Now with all her fans dressing like her, it has become a trend. We see more shoulder pads and short shorts in fashion stores. Crazy just gets more normal and after a while we get used to it and don’t even notice. The world wants crazy, just imagine if we didn’t have Justin Beiber flying over fans at his concerts on a giant love heart, there would be no rush of excitement. This is what makes out world interesting. As things get crazier the world will mould with it.

Sorry for the poor quality of some of the pictures

longest catwalk
Longest catwalk I’ve ever seen. (out of three)

Question???

Maybe its my photography or are others feeling my pain?
I ask photographers or anyone who has been to a fashion show, who agrees that when models get to the end of the catwalk their turn is extremely fast?
I mean too fast to get a proper picture of the outfit?

Please tell me your thoughts (:
